New year's eve Rune Draw

image from here on flickr

One-Rune draw round 2!
Open all New Year's Eve
Start the New Year right..or possibly wrong..

What they are:
The Fuþark is an alphabet derived from a Italian source, which moved into Germanic regions then up to Scandinavia. Originally they were used for marking property and, according to Roman sources, connections to the divine for aid and information. They survived the conversion to Christianity as a letter system with power and meaning, showing up on stones outside of churches with crosses around them, and were used to mark holy places and write important things and notices until the 1400's. They have found a revival of interest and are often used now for their original purpose.

Where my set is from:
My sister-in-law, who owns Tara Hill

What you need to do:
Comment, and either ask for a rune in general or ask a question. Yes/no doesn't work with them. I will relay to the best of my ability, though more information means easier comprehension for me.
Feel free to link or point out if you think anyone else would find this of interest.

Thanks to [info]haikujaguar for the general idea.

Posting again because I love stuff like this and I actually have a question this time! (I need to find the old runes I made out of wood ages and ages ago)

I've been actively searching for different employment. How will this resolve, and is there anything I should be doing differently to make it resolve?

Jēra
year

Like the song, the seasons turn in their fullness. You are going past a period of stillness and stagnancy and moving towards something different in the new year. Your current path is correct, and I would suggest things will change naturally soon.

Edit: I'd remind you you got another spring symbol in the last draw.

Disturbingly similar to bulletwolf's. It is clear I need different employment -- I'd like a rune for advice on how best to proceed or what I need to do differently.

Thanks again!

I got yew for you and was unhappy, so planned on doing a 3 rune draw. The first time I was shuffling the runes, one fell out. I put it back and immediately another did. The Divine has spoken I guess.

Eihwaz - Gebō - Algiz
yew - gift - protection (elk?)

Yew starts off being the drastic change rune. You're going through this now, you need your change, and I would remind you you had the painful path of self sacrifice the last time you drew.

Gift is just that. Things will happen to you due to the kindness of others on your behalf. I can't say who or how, but friends, family, or even just a former co-worker will be instrumental in your change in career. Network like CRAZY!

Protection implies to me the source of that 'gift' will be watching out for you. You've got a guardian angel on earth, possibly more than one, at least in a non-literal sence. You'll be help, guided to this and most importantly guarded from the worst.

So, nutshell:
Holy crap things are changing and it's going to hurt like hell, but talk to enough people and you'll find someone who's willing to help you and put themselves a bit on the line for you in return for the choice to take this path.

There's a decision I've been wrestling with and that is to essentially bail out on my roommates and move back in with mom (who's currently having medical issues) and help take care of her. Both former and current rune draws seem to continue to push in that direction.

The problem is a couple other people I know have done this and both ended up rather miserable "waiting for the day for their mother to kick".

What sort of results should I expect from my plans for the coming 4-5 days?

Gebō
gift

This implies good stuff from the universe. I'm not sure the plans in particular but gift also involves your relations with others. If it's a relationship, it will grow more, if it's friends or family, they'll be particularly generous and kind. Perhaps the universe will just drop a quick, no strings 'gimme' in your lap. this isn't a permanent state of bliss like some runes, it's a one-time thing, but hopefully it'll be worthwhile to you.

*nods* Good chance at short-term woot-ness then.

Slightly different question than the first two...

I'm not crazy about my job, it's dead-end and I've been in it for over 9 years. But it's stable, exceedingly well-paid for what I do and what my expenses are, and somewhat secure for the near future.

I've been thinking of change, but I have no real skills that would do in any career, nor much memory/intelligence combo to learn something new from scratch - or so I think.

Am I better to stick to the devil I know and tough it out until I have a reasonable financial cushion?

Wunjo
glory

Wunjo is a rune of success and satisfaction. Are you sure the change you need needs to be career wise? Either way it implies that you are going to find the steps to satisfaction. I personally think it means right now is a good place for you, but that you will get your inner journey to greater happiness.

Hmm. Thank you. This might dovetail with other things I've been thinking about.

This looks too fun not to try, but sadly this is also work related(talk about a trend!)

I am not happy with my current job(I'm on the edge of panic attacks practically every day), it's also dead ended, with no real chance of learning anything new, and at this point I am so unhappy it would take pretty much a substantial raise to make me think of staying. I also plan on joining the Reserves in future and starting my own business in conjunction.

How should I handle the transition between these? Abrupt, gradual, etc?

I got a two-fer when I drew, and trying to draw again I got two again.
Both times I got the same first rune so that's important.

Fehu
cattle

Cows? How are cows good? Well, cattle meant two things: wealth, and personal honour. So this is both your value monetarily and also your personal self worth. These are things you both have and should focus on. Don't dishonour yourself and devalue yourself with this work.

As for the how, I got two answers.
The first draw gave me
Laguz
water
I call this 'dark water' or 'pool' as that better expresses the feel of the rune. This is the rune of introspection into terrifying places, of spiritual journeys into the unknown. It is where you touch your darkest side and come out a richer person.

This dovetails right into the OTHER rune that dropped
Eihwaz
yew

This is the death rune, which means dramatic change and the personal confrontation of fears.

Taken together it tells me you have the strength psychologically and monetarily to do this, but you have to make the hard choice. It won't be nice or easy but you will make it through the fear. Gradual will not work.

I hope this helps.

I'd like a rune about how to protect myself in the coming year.
